We will be back to our regular schedule this week: Monday the 27th and Wednesday the 29th. Returning students from 7:30 until 9, beginners join at 8 am.
Ms. Karen Due to the school play, rehearsals this week will be from 8:00 am - 8:55 am FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS. No returning students at 7:30 am.
See you soon! Ms. Karen Watch Story of woodwind Family on YouTube. OR Story of Brass Family on YouTube. OR The percussion Family on YouTube (see below) You only need to watch for the family which YOUR instrument belongs. Write a short response (5 or six sentences) which 1) names all instruments in the family and 2) give a fact on each instrument. For percussion, you don’t have to name all the instruments, just list the types of instruments. You may choose to also watch and write about the other families for extra tally points. Many different percussion instruments playing here! Most unpitched, but some pitched. Notice how the rhythms fit together on the instruments. See how percussion can be played by hitting with hands, sticks, shaken, even hit on their bodies. Notice, too, that the conductor not only helps them keep a steady beat, but cues them on when to play their parts when it changes. Check out the "show more" tab to see the names of all the instruments. Watch again and try to identify the instruments by name. Hi everyone!
I have just 7 of you who have joined the Quizlet page. Some of you may be drilling on the terms without actually "joining" the class. If you access through this link, I will be able to see who has spent time working on Quizlet. Otherwise, I do not know if you are working on it or not! See you Wednesday, bright and early! https://quizletQcom/join/eCfg4eqYs https://quizlet.com/join/eCfg4eqYs Beginners: watch this short video about rhythms. I want you to bring in a 4 measure piece on Monday which has these notes: Whole note, half note and quarter notes. Also, make it in 4/4, so just 4 beats in each measure. Use concert Bb only. Use the rhythm sheet I gave you in class. Choose 4 measures from that and put together in your own way. Returning students: watch this short video about rhythms. I want you to create a rhythm sequence using Bb concert scale, ascending and descending, with whole, half and quarter notes. Make it in 4/4, so just 4 beats in each measure. Use the rhythm sheet I gave you in class for a guide. You may repeat scale notes before moving on to the next note. Due Monday, March 13th. You may use music staff paper, or just notebook paper with rhythms written out and Bb, C, D,...written underneath. What everyday objects would you use to make music? How many different sounds did this man create? Are there different pitches? How many different rhythmic patterns did he create? Can you hear the layers of patterns as they are played simultaneously? What makes the marbles fall? How many instruments are included? Is the man operating the machine a musician? Why or why not? There is a "how it works" YouTube, if you are interested in seeing more! |
