A Woodwind Quintet usually has: flute, clarinet, French Horn, bassoon and oboe. In this unique video, they have added some additional rhythm with a drum set and piano. Here you can see all the different types of clarinets that I mentioned in class! Remember, the more tubing to vibrate, the lower the pitch! The less tubing to vibrate, the higher the pitch. Hello all my wonderful band students!
I finally got the website updated. Sorry for the delay! Anyone who is able to make some extra time: Wednesday, I will stay to help clarinets 9:15-9:45, please check with your teachers. Here is a composition: Candide Overture First, we see composer Leonard Bernstein conducting the London Symphony Orchestra And now The University of Michigan Symphony Band with a Band arrangement of the piece. SUGGESTION FOR FIVE BAND POINTS: Write two paragraphs or make a Venn Diagram comparing what is the same and what is different between these two performances? Be as complete as you can! Enjoy!
Here is another great video on the instruments of the orchestra. Why are we learning about orchestra in band??? Well, except for strings, all these instruments are IN band! Besides, a well rounded musician is aware of the sound and name of many instruments. No assignment for this video, but you are welcome to use this as an extra on your tally sheet for points. It is worth 3 points. 5 points if you also write a reflection summarizing what was covered and what you learned. Here are some worksheet packets. One for Treble Clef and one for Bass Clef. You can do these for more points. Turn in on February 20th after break. Instrument Families! On MusicTechTeacher website.
